Managing Director – Spain
Subsidiary of a UK plc, to be based in Barcelona

A subsidiary of a UK plc was in the process of acquiring a business, based in Barcelona, that was central to their expansion plans in Europe. The current owners were staying on as consultants for a term and would then exit the business. The plc wanted to retain an Interim Managing Director whilst the new business was assimilated into the group. Ideally they wanted a UK national, with experience of corporate plc’s, who could forge good relationships with key customers, suppliers, the workforce and local stakeholders, whilst at the same time positioning the  business so that it became part of the plc.

Crucially they needed to be bilingual in English and Spanish, have a good knowledge of Catalan, and have a full understanding of doing business in the region, together with industry and sector knowledge – a very simple brief!

Following a search in the UK and Spain InterSearch successfully found a UK national who had experience of working and managing a business in the region, was bilingual, had industry and sector experience and had worked in a UK plc environment recently.
